Undated, circa mid 1880s to around 1890.Plain back card with minimal decoration; undecorated cabinet cards tend to be earlier.
Milnor was founded in 1883 when the Northern Pacific Railroad was extended to the prairie location where the town was established.Previous to the railroad arrival ( the Black Hills Branch ), the area was occupied by a number of early settlers , mostly farmers of Scandinavian descent.By January 1884, Milnor had between 300 and 400 inhabitants and a variety of different businesses along it\'s main street.( a detailed history of Milnor, North Dakota, cam be found in the book \"100 Years Of Milnor Memories, 1883-1983\", produced by the Milnor Centennial Committee )
North Dakota graduated from a territory to a state on November 2, 1889, around the time this cabinet card was made.
