A mask based on that worn by British and French tank crews during WWI. These \'splatter masks\' were used to protect the occupants of a tank from sharp shards of steel that sheared off the inside of the hull when it was struck by rifle fire.
This model has a steel base, hardened to hold shape and lightly oil blued to provide a protective finish. This is leather covered and mild steel chainmail is suspended from the eyelets.
