This is a vintage Marriot Motor Hotels note pad, probably from the motel room. Based on the Marriott history, looks to be late 50s or early 60s vintage. Has 15+ sheets left in it. Most are in excellent condition, with the last few having a small stain in the bottom left corner. Measures 5.5" tall x 4.25" wide. Great vintage travel memorabilia.
The Marriott chain began with two motels in the 1950s. The first opened as a Quality Inn airport motel near Washington, D.C., and another motel nearby, the Twin Bridges, a few years later. With the opening of the second motel, Marriott was born as a brand name. The Twin Bridges property was demolished in 1990, but the Key Bridge property still operates, but as a full-service hotel. The company went public in 1953. In 1957, the firm expanded into the hotel industry by opening the first Marriott hotel (actually a motel), the Twin Bridges Motor Hotel, in Arlington County, Virginia. In 1964, Hot Shoppes, Inc. was renamed Marriott-Hot Shoppes, Inc. The company became Marriott Corporation in 1967.
