Includes the rare "THE THING" Case Topper Card (#CT1) This trading card seriesfeatures reproductions of some of the most famous Sci-Fi & Horror Theatrical Posters of our time.This card set was released by Breygent Marketing in 2007 and consists of 49 different cards in all (#1-#49), plus you get the rare case topper card (#CT1). Each cardfrom this full release features a reproduction of a classic vintage movie poster on specially-made 3.5"X 5" card stock. This was the1st installment in a series ofBreygent's "ClassicVintage Posters" card sets (the 2nd series was based on "Movie Posters" &the 3rd series was based on "Stars, Monsters & Comedy"). This series has a full range of major motion pictures based on Sci-Fi & Horror! This listing is for the entire set of 49 cards (#1-#49) plus you get the rare Case Topper Card #CT1. The images on the fronts of the cards are in full color with a classic border surrounding it. On the back of the cards there is detailed text abouteach film spotlightedincluding cast & plot information & the importance of themovie & poster in the history of film. The over-the-top graphics & flamboyant nature of theseposters are themselves a lost art. It was from a time when movie-goers were enthralled by the fantastic claims that the posters offered & used that alone as a basis of whether or not they'd go see the movie once released. How could it be that the outrageous claims & fantastical action scenes depicted would consistently work to entice audiences? Well, it wasthe "Golden Age" of the movie industry & the audiences were eager for a good time, even if the claims made on the posters could not hold up on the big screen. Manyof the movie titles featured in this card set were so wildly popular that theyhave been re-made many times over. The 1933 version of KING KONG whose movie poster is featured in this set(Card #3) spawned many re-makes including the most recent one by famed Director Peter Jackson almost75 years later! Some of theother huge hitsfeatured in this series that have also been re-done are: Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde (Card #2), The Invisible Man (#5), The War of the Worlds (#12), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (#18) & The Fly Card #33). Other films gained notoriety from different means: Like Ed Wood's classic "Plan 9 From Outer Space" (card #23) which was given new life from Tim Burton's film "Ed Wood" starring Johnny Depp. Wood has a 2nd film featured in this set as well ("Bride of the Monster" is card #20). Other great films are used as well (full list is below) including some Foreign posters & a special British Double-Bill poster.
