This vintage real photo postcard features Swedish stage and silent film actress, Mary Johnson (1896-1975). She made her theatrical debut in the 1910\'s. At age seventeen, she made her film debut. During the 1920\'s, she moved to Berlin and worked as a leading lady in a number of German films. She was often compared to Mary Pickford, Lilian Gish, and Bessie Love. She shared their dainty appearance and sensitive performances. The IMDb reports that Johnson had 35 film credits between 1912 and 1931. She was married three times. Each husband was an actor. World War II had much impact on Johnson. She and her husband lost most their assets as well as their livelihood. They retreated to Austria. After her husband\'s death in 1955, Johnson returned to Sweden. This vintage postcard was published by Ross Verlag as part of a series (no.3444/1). Johnson\'s photograph was taken by Alex Binder. The postcard has a minor crease in it\'s lower left hand corner and is in overall good condition. (See Scans)
