Louis Charles Joseph Bleriot [1872 1936] wasaprominent French aviator, inventor and engineer who built his own aircraft which he used in 1909to make the first flight of an airplane between Europe and Great Britain.Bleriot had many historic flightsincluding his July 25, 1909, flightwhen he piloted his Bleriot XI monoplane across the English Channel from Calais, France to Dover, England. Bleriot won a large prize for this historicflight and used the money to beginmanufacturing aircraft. Bleriot produced over 800 aircraft during World War I and continued setting world speed, altitude, distance and duration records. Bleriot is also credited with developing the first automobile headlamp and the first to use the combination of a hand operated joystick and foot operated rudder similar to what is still used today. Listed for sale is rare photograph signed by Louis Bleriot. The image is of Bleriot on his airplane after completing his historic flight across the English Channel and the autograph is signed signed ''L Bleriot'' in black fountain pen. The photograph measures5.00 x 4.00 inches and is infine condition.
