Lot of 2 Rare Antique Ellen Clapsaddle Signed Christmas Postcards - Beautiful Girl and Boy in Round Insets with Same Holly and Flowers on Gilded Gold Ribbon Scrolls - International Arts Publishing Series 1444 Embossed
Condition (see definitionsbelow): Very Good--tiny corner bumps, boy card has tiny surface corner rip and barely visible small corner crease. Please look at scans carefully and use the magnifier, asthey are part of the description.Subjects: Detailed artwork on each of 2 postcards--beautiful Edwardian girl and boy in decorative round framed insets. The blue-eyed girl is wearing a white bonnet trimmed with blue bows to match her coat and holding a white fur hand muff, and the brown-eyed boy is in a white coat with red scarf and holding his winter cap. On both cards, a wide vertical ribbon of gilded gold is trimmed with holly, and bunches of flowers add deep blue/purple color. The design layouts on the cards are mirror images except for portrait insets. - Greetings: \"Best Christmas Wishes\" and \"A Merry gold ribbon scrolls and accents.
- Stunning variety of deep colors is combined with delicate pink shading in the faces.
- Artist signed - Ellen H. Clapsaddle - signatures are very faint in this series. There are also faint copyright marks within the circles: \"Painting Only Copyrighted by The Intl Arts Pub Co. 1912.\"
- Christmas themed verses composed by Ellen Clapsaddle.
- Divided backs printed with IAP logo, \"New York Berlin, Printed in Germany.
- The boy card is postmarked Dec. 23, 1912 with flag cancel, and the girl card is unposted; both have writing on backs.
