circa 1909 - - Bowles Grove, The Denver & So. Platte Railway Co., Littleton, CO
RARE: Picnic Scene, Swing Bench, , Littleton, Colo. // RARE card for the D. & S.P. Ry. Trolley System. NOTE: "Bowles Grove" was in the area just south of Bowles Avenue and west of the Platte.
It was an area of dense woods, penetrated by a sole carriage trail and numerous walking paths.
It was eventually purchased by the city and named Tramway Park. (from Littleton City site)NOTE : D. & S.P. Ry. Co. - Denver & South Platte Railway Company (Electric).1907-1910.
Denver & South Platte Railway Trolley System
D & S.P. Ry ran from Littleton, Colorado, to a connection with the Denver Tramway at Englewood, Colorado.
(This electric trolley car system opened to extend from from Denver into Littleton in 1907.
The line came down south Broadway, went cross-country at Big Dry Creek to enter the town on Prince Avenue and
then turned onto Main. Eventually, the line was extended across the South Platte River, south of Bowles Avenue.
For a time, the Littleton route included the famous "Cherrelyn" street car on south Broadway,
where a horse assisted the motors going up a steep grade, then climbed aboard and rode on the car during the descent.)
