Beautiful table / bedside lamp with organic bell-shaped diffuser in Cocoon membranewith a black marbled pattern,on wooden structure and base, from the \"Cocoon\" series by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni made for Flos / Licht Studio Eisenkel, in Italy, in the 1970s.
The condition of the lamp is good in relation to its time and well described in the photos: working; lampshade with a tear restored by the previous owner and not very visible; base and structure in black lacquered wood; original electrical components of the time.
This rare, very decorative bedside lamp provides a warm, diffused and atmospheric light: a true luminous sculpture and beautiful iconic furnishing object from the 60s/70s, suitable for any type of environment.
HISTORYIn the 1960s, designerGeorge Nelson\'s experiments based on metal frame structures for chandeliers inspiredArtur Eisenkeil, a small manufacturer from Merano and founder of the companyLichtStudio Eisenkeil, to create the first prototypes of Cocoon lampshades, in which the metal frame white / rubberized steel wire was first shaped and then sprayed withCocoon, a spun polymer plastic reinforced with glass fibers, very resistant and coming from the United States where it was invented for war reasons. The polymer sprayed like a cobweb created a durable yet flexible membrane that was waterproof and resistant to corrosion, dust, oil, gas and even liquids such as citric acid, alcohol and bleach .

Le condizioni della lampada sono buone in relazione al tempo e ben descritte in foto: funzionante; paralume con uno strappo restaurato dal precedente proprietario e poco visile; base e struttura in legno laccato di nero; componenti elettriche originali dell\'epoca.
Questa rara lampada da comodino, molto decorativa, fornisce una luce calda, diffusa e d\'atmosfera: vera e propria scultura luminosa e bellissimo oggetto d\'arredo iconico degli anni \'60/\'70, adatto ad ogni tipo di ambiente.
STORIANegli anni \'60 gli esperimenti del designerGeorge Nelsonbasati su strutture a telaio di metallo per lampadari ispiraronoArtur Eisenkeil, un piccolo produttore di Merano e fondatore dell\'aziendaLichtStudio Eisenkeil, nella creazione dei primi prototipi di paralumiCocoon, nei quali il telaio in filo d\'acciaio bianco / gommato veniva prima modellato e poi spruzzato con ilCocoon, una plastica polimerica filata rinforzata con fibre di vetro, molto resistente e proveniente dagli Stati Uniti dove era stata inventata per motivi bellici. Il polimero spruzzato come un filo di ragnatela creava una membrana durevole ma flessibile, a tenuta d’acqua e resistente alla corrosione, alla polvere, all’olio, al gas e perfino a liquidi come l’acido citrico, l’alcol e la candeggina.
