Leutkirch im Allgäu, GERMANY - Shloss Zeil: Leutkirch im Allgäu is a former imperial town with around 23,000 inhabitants in the district of Ravensburg in southeastern Baden-Württemberg . Located in the Western Allgäu between Memmingen and Wangen on the A 96 , the city forms a central center for the surrounding communities and, according to the German Weather Service , is one of the sunniest places in Germany. Leutkirch, with its area of 175 km², is after Stuttgart , Baiersbronn , and Bad WurzachEhingen is the fifth largest municipality in Baden-Württemberg. Schloss Zeil is the residence of the descendants of the Princes of Waldburg-Zeil in Leutkirch im Allgäu. The 752 m high location of the castle on an ice age terminal moraine was already inhabited in the Hallstatt period. In the Middle Ages , a small castle was built by the stewards of Waldburg , which was demolished in 1598. Today\'s four-winged Renaissance -style castle was built under Truchsess Froben von Waldburg-Zeil from 1599 to 1614built. Before that he had built a church and a monastery. The surrounding gardens from the Renaissance period were adapted to the taste of the respective era in the Baroque, 19th and 20th centuries, but have been changed again in the spirit of the Renaissance since the 1930s.
