For sale is this incredible authentic late or post medieval iron ax head! This ax head is made of a heavy and firm iron. It is rusted from years of being buried, but his still firm. It has been a part of a private US based collection for many years now. The collection is being sold off upon its owners retirement and I was lucky enough to get this with some owner pieces. This ax head was once mounted to a wooden handle, and was likely used as a weapon or tool in medieval European culture. It’s design is consistent with other pieces known to have been used for this purpose. This piece is smaller, and might have been more like a hatchet. The metal has been cleaned and stabilized. This is an incredible find. Great authentic artifact that would work as a display piece, teaching tool, conversation piece, or collectible! Perfect for any collection! Don’t pass it up!

This piece has the following provenance:

- Found in Central Europe with a metal detector

- Purchased by a German collector once the items were released for sale

- Purchased in the 1980/90’s by a Private US collector, and displayed in a private collection of ancient & medieval artifacts (mostly arms and armor).

- I purchased it from this collection when the owner retired, and began selling his items off.
