Description

An incredible specimen of large blades and accicular fans of deep crimson Erythrite surrounded by white quartz on dark gray matrix. The crystals are up to 2cm long! 449.9 grams (15.8 ounce) #300k70

Physical Characteristics:

Color is deep red-purple
Luster is vitreous.
Transparency crystals are transparent to translucent.
Crystal System is monoclinic; 2/m
Crystal Habits include flattened, striated blades or radiating accicular crystals
Cleavage is perfect in one direction.
Fracture is uneven
Hardness is 1.5 - 2.5
Specific Gravity is approximately 3.1 (average for translucent minerals)
Streak is pale red.
Other Characteristics: blades are flexible and sectile.
Dimensions: 4 5/16" x 2 3/8" x 1 1/4" (110mm x 61mm x 57mm) at widest points
