This is an original Long Range Patrol Ration for use by US Army Rangers LRRP\'s (pronounced LURPs) and Special Forces during and after the Vietnam War. This menu is your choice: Beef Hash OR Chicken Stew. This is an old ration, so I advise against eating it. Please choose one of the menus. If no choice is made, I will send what is available. Note: The Pork w/escalloped potatoes is out of stock and no longer available.There were eight LRRP ration menus: Beef Stew, Chicken Stew, Beef w/rice, Chicken and rice, Spaghetti w/meat sauce, Chili Con Carne, Beef Hash and Pork w/escalloped potatoes. If you have a certain one in mind, let me know and I will look to make sure to confirm it is available before you purchase.
The contents include a freeze dried dehydrated main meal, toilet paper, coffee, sugar and creamer, hot chocolate mix, spoon and a dehydrated cereal bar. Sold as a souvenir only (INEDIBLE) (see photo for example contents)LRRP\'s (Long Range Recon Patrols) in Vietnam went to the field for many days without resupply, so weight was a big factor. This ration was designed to be light weight and provide enough food for one day in the field. It was reconstituted with water (cold or hot) and was a very filling meal. On a seven day patrol, each solder would carry 7-8 of these rations. There were eight different menus and some were really tasty, especially with hot sauce.
