The Gatling Gun shown is Model 1883. It has the Accles \"donut\" feed drum on top. A helpful collector and Gatling Gun afficianado wrote us, and shared with us the information, that the Gatling Gun model shown is Model #1883. He says that it would have had the Accles \"donut\" feed drum on top.
We don\'t know the provenance, or the exact age of this picture. A previous owner wrote the date 1879 at the bottom of the photo. But we are not sure if that is the date of creation or the year represented in the scene.
Most likely the scene was an engraving created for a newspaper article. The original engraving could have been larger, since it seems as if it is not showing the whole scene, or there are parts missing from the picture. But the card is in excellent condition.
This intriguing, \"Indian Wars Engraving print\" measures approx. 5\" x 3-1/2\" (12.7 cm. X 8 cm.) and features a battle scene with one of the Model #1883 Gatling guns
Note: we had a whole Facebook Group of Antique sellers trying to crack this mystery of this print. We appreciate any and all help from the antique world.
