For sale is a lovely piece of crystal made by Lalique of Wingen-sur-Moder in Alsace-Lorraine, France. This wonderful piece of Lalique art glass. It is known as the \"Bagatelle\" vase. The vase is quite heavy for its size. It stands 6 3/4\" tall and is 5\" in diameter at its widest point. The bottom has a diameter of 2 3/4\" and the top inside has a diameter of 3 1/2\" and an outside diameter of 4 1/4\".
The vase displays an ovoid shape with a large top opening to receive flowers. This crystal vase is frosted and clear. It has a wonderful pattern of Sparrows cut into recessed windows on the exterior. There is a bird individually nestled inside each window with a wreath of leaves surrounding them. There are several of these birds in the vase. In fact, there are 12 of these small birds. Some say these are Love Birds but this reminds me of Sparrows that make homes in sand pits. They make a hole for them to sleep at night and when I was young I remember playing around one at a camp I used to attend. . The detail and craftsmanship is just outstanding as anyone would expect from Lalique.
This vase sepia is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips or dings. Other than some minor scratches on the underside bottom it has no excuses to be made. It is signed on the bottom in script signature \"Lalique France\". This piece has substantial weight for its size. Book referenceLiterature: F. Marcilhac, \"René Lalique, Catalogue Raisonné de l\'Oeuvre de verre\", Paris, 2004, no. 10-936, p. 471 andfirst introduced this vase in 1939.
The Bagatelle vase is an emblematic Lalique piece and best seller. From a naturalist inspiration, it was drawn for the first time in 1939.This is an older piece of the Bagatelle vase as it was made circa 1945-1970. This is based on its signature mark as it does not carry the \"R\" registered trade mark in a circle along with the script signature.
These vases sell for $1200 made today on the Lalique website. Here is your chance to own a much earlier Antique piece for a lot less.

They are also now charging all sellersa commission of 12%on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing feebut has changed this to 12%. This is an increase of 9.1% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now theyare charging 12% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges. If you feel what is doing is wrong or you don\'t agree them please contact and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
