CALIFORNIA CAB
'KING TUT'S GOLDEN HEART'
NATURAL GOLDQUARTZ from the U.S.A. Welcome to the Gold of Eldorado!
'There's gold and it's haunting and haunting. It's luring me on as of old." The Spell of the Yukon - Robert Service. When I first began work on this stone, the gold's beautiful color became instantly apparent. The thick maze of metal veinlets beam with a royal glow. At the beginning of the project, I was looking at a piece of rough which was saying "I'm a heart. Make me", and so I did. You do what the stone tells you. At this stage, one need only imagine how incredible it would be mounted inside a gold bezel or even a massive ring. My personal preference in gold quartz varietals leans towards vari-colors such as this. Both faces are slightly-curved and polished. California's Sierra Nevada Mtns., the famed Mother Lode, brought it's parent rock to the earth's surface. Evaluating GQ collector-stone depends on various factors. To begin, high karatage translates to an added appreciation. The overall aesthetic of gold quartz, both stone and metal, juxtaposed against other gems, is an intangible not easily quantified. GQ isn't diamond, ruby, sapphire, or emerald. Those stones may fetch $5K or more per carat. For this 'other' precious gemstone, $50/ct. seems more realistic. After all, we're talking about natural, U.S. gold straight from the ground. I believe you'll be thrilled once you see this marvelous stone up close and personal. If you don't know much about gold, gold ores/gold quartz, lapidary, gemology, mineralogy, geology, or mining for gold; if you don't care for jewelry at all, just buy and cache this beautiful rock shot full of gleaming precious metal. GQ or 'gold quartz' is, basically, gold ore. When ore is rich and aesthetic enough, it becomes desirable as jewelry-grade gemstone. For perhaps thousands of years, jewelers have been incorporating it into spectacular, karat-gold, works of art. Almost any kind of rock can be cut and made into a cab, but GQ is a different mineral altogether. It carries the precious cargo, gold. You would not crush this type of stone just to extract the gold. That would be rather foolish; not unlike crushing gem grade diamond for use as an abrasive. Gem-grade gold quartz is as rare, precious, and beautiful a mineral complex as you will find on the planet. Weight: 44.9 Grains (Troy) - 14.5 CaratsDimensions:
21.3 mm (wide) X 17.5 mm (tall) X 2.1 up to 2.9 mm (thick)Where else do you think such stone would originate but California's Mother Lode? Judging from the thick veins of high-purity gold, the parent was pregnant with twins. A friend and I refer to this as 'Goldilocks' gold. GQ set inside any karat gold ring, gold bezel, or other gold framework adds both value and aesthetic. Several identifiable colors embellish the coconut meat matrix. It was a friend's generosity which allowed me to acquire and craft it. If you're drawn to gold quartz from the western U.S., maybe you're feeling the force. As sole proprietor/operator of my store, I've been selling native gold and platinum products for over forty years. Back in the 80s and 90s, I was a full-time placer-miner and rustic gold nugget jewelry-designer. There's just something about hunting for (and working with) the elusive yellow metal known as gold. For one thing, out west, any normal (or abnormal) person can go into the hills and hunt for gold with a realistic chance of meeting with some success. That's pretty cool, really! As you stroll through my store, expect to find lots of useful prospecting information and stories based upon my own goldfield experiences. If you don't know much about gold, gold ores/gold quartz, lapidary, gemology, mineralogy, geology, or mining for gold; if you don't care for jewelry at all, justbuy andcachethis beautiful rock shot full of gleaming precious metal. You won't find any.Ideal in nativeminerals with visible gold, notreplicas, not'paint-ons'.I don'tpeddle 'simulated' specimens madewith minute amounts of gold or no real gold at all. No fake nuggets here, folks. I was a professional placer miner myself and personally have bought stuff with gold painted on it. Some so-called'natural gold quartz'specimens acquired had tiny chunks of placer goldgluedinto the vugs of barren rock. If folks want to fake their specimens, then it should be mandatory they advertise their products as simulations or replications. All of my advertised specimens, slabs, cabochons, gold oreset alare authentic and containnaturally-occurring, native gold and/orare composedalmost entirelyof naturally-occurring gold (i.e. gold nuggets, gold flakes, wire gold specimens). The purity of this gold will vary, but if it's from California, you can count on it being fairly high, from 70% to 90% pure on average. For comparision,a 14Kgold wedding band is 58% pure gold.Theorigin of thisgemstoneis a veinsystem somewhere in theSierraNevadaMtns. ofCalifornia. Thanks forchecking out our digs. I hope you find rich ground ahead. Gold ofEldorado 1-7-17
