Although I have smoked and enjoyed Jobey pipes since I was a college student in the 60s, I am bewildered at the lack of information on Jobey\'s history. I don\'t even have a clue for when Jobey began production, and enquiries that I\'ve made to collectors far more knowledgeable than I have elicited the same answer: Dunno!
I came into the Jobey picture in the 60s when the pipe stems had the word \"Jobey\" embedded in a golden-looking metal oval logo. The same logo in much the same format continues to this day. Sometime prior to the 60s (and again, seems that no one knows when), the Jobey logo consisted of two silver dots embedded on top of stem just before the stem met the shank. So I can only surmise that this pipe came from the 30s-50s. (And if anyone out there has the definitive dates for Jobey\'s production, I\'d would be grateful to hear the information.)
Jobey along with the words \"Imported Briar\" are the only stampings on pipe that I can read. Smooth convex bowl rim, rich patina, great in-the-hand feel all make this an attractive pipe. Original push-in stem and shank fit snugly.
