This listing is for a rare and unique copper plate of Dr. Max (Mordecai) Dolnick who was involved with the Jewish National Workers Alliance. This copper plates was made and signed by Philip Levitan with a date of 1963. The copper plate is mounted on a piece of stained plywood. The copper plate measures 10\" x 16\" and the plywood measures 12\" x 18\".
The Jewish National Workers Alliance or Farband was an early Yiddish-speaking labor zionist organization in North America. It operated as a mutual-aid society in parallel with Poale Zion, and organized cooperative insurance, medical plans and education systems in Yiddish and Hebrew. Dr. Dolnick was in charge of the Chicago branch.
There is both a school and community center named after Dr. Dolnick in Chicago. I believe this is probably a one-of-a-kind item and was custom made. The artist, Philip Levitan, was known for his work in brass.
