Offered is a rare and authentic menu from La Mediterranie seafood restaurant in Paris. The menu, which was designed by Jean Cocteau, features one of his iconic images with a little twist added, in this case, a fish. I have seen this menu reproduced many times and I have also seen it described as \"signed by Jean Cocteau\" with an asking price in excess of $1000. This is an original menu from 1960 which was signed in the plate by Cocteau as were they all, not signed by him personally. The menu has been framed with glass on both sides as shown. It is 16\" tall, 11\" wide, .5\" thick and weighs 2 lb. 12 oz. One can\'t help but notice the white wine stain, visible on both sides of the menu, and label it as damage, which is true in one sense. In another sense, it is a badge of honor, placing this menu at the restaurant, on a table, likely at around the time when Cocteau held court there and the times were good. Some wine was spilled during the festivities, and then, despite the stain, the menu was carefully preserved, framed for maximum visibility and ended up at an antiques show in Florida 60 years later.
