Daniel Kassell released a Duke Ellington Postage Stamp Pin designed by bassist Wallace Stelzer for Jazz Appreciation Month.Dan gave the first one to Mercedes Ellington for her Grandfather’s 125th Birthday Celebration as donation to the Duke Ellington Center for the Arts.The design features a profile of Duke Ellington superimposed over the partial image of a piano keyboard printed multicolored by photogravure.
The result is an actual DUKE ELLINGTONusa 22cent Stamp carefully framed in 3D printed Black frame with a pin finding.

BACKGROUND:Edward Kennedy Ellington was born in Washington, D.C. on April 29, 1899. A 22-cent commemorative stamp honoring Duke Ellington was issued twelve years posthumous on April 29, 1986 at St. Peters Church in New York City. That US Postage Stamp, introduced by then President John Rainbow of The Duke Ellington Society-New York, became the ninth stamp of the Performing Arts Series.In 2001 the first Smithsonian Jazz Appreciation Month began “intended to stimulate and encourage participation in Jazz”.As a collector of Ellington memorabilia, Daniel Kassell asked bassist Wallace Stelzer to create a Lapel Pin from real US Postage Stamp Panes for this 125th Celebration.
