If you missed out on the swords from the John Plimpton collection when they were for sale a while back, here's a chance to buy one. In fact, St. Croix Blades bought more than 50 of the Plimpton swords--we've just stowed them away to be listed here every so often.

1 rare antique Imperial Gift World War II Japanese Samurai IJA Army Officer's Type 94 shin-gunto sword available. This sword would make an important addition to any collection.

An Onshin--or Imperial Gift sword is a gift from the Emperor of Japan, often to top level graduates in military academies.The gold foil habaki has the kanji 'On-shin'.

An early Type 94 double-hanger shin-gunto mount sword is so very rare to find. Somewhere around just 1 of 1,000 Japanese Army swords are Type 94's.

The blade measures 25 5/8" (65.1 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. This sword has a murato-to blade. The nakago has two arsenal stamps on it.

The second hanger on the Type 94 sword is removable. All fittings have the high quality handsome early reddish color fittings with bright gold gilt present.

This exact swordwas photographed for, and is published on pages 122 & 123 of John Plimpton's book Swords of the Emperor--A Guide to the Identification of Imperial Japanese Swords, 1873-1945. The buyer of this sword will want to purchase this book since he or she will have this sword published in it.
