This original art collection, drawn by hand by Janny Wurts, includes both the preliminary sketch and the finished piece (the finished piece was matted by the artist). It was drawn as a sample illustration for the then-upcoming 1979 printing ofWall of Serpents byL. Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt (the book cover is shown but only for reference, it is not included with the listing as the listing is for the original artwork and the prelim sketch only).De Camp\'s story in the book featuredCú Chulainn of Irish mythology. Please note- the preliminary sketch and completed piece are both real. They are the actual, hand-drawn artwork of Wurts. They are not pre-printed images, copies or prints. They are one-of-a-kind originals and both are also signed by Wurts. The prelim is drawn on tracing paper. Both have been in the artists personal files nearly 40 years and are yellowing with age (see scans for full details as to condition). Again, please note that the listing is for the original artwork only and the book itself is not included. The prelim measures 8 1/2 by 11 inches and, as can be seen in the scan, has some wear. The matted, finished piece measuresapproximately7 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches (matting itself measures approximately 11 3/4 by 15 inches). Please see below for important information regarding COA\'s.

About the artist:

Janny Wurts (born December 10, 1953) is an American fantasy novelist and illustrator. She has written several series, including the Wars of Light and Shadow, The Cycle of Fire trilogy, several stand-alone novels, a short story collection and the internationally best selling Empire Trilogy that she co-authored with Raymond E. Feist. An award-winning artist, her paintings grace the cover of several fantasy and sci-fi novels, (she often even illustrates the covers to her own books). Other illustrative work includes interior artwork for early Dragon Magazine issues, module covers for Mayfair Games Role Aids RPG adventures. Her work has also been featured in serial art exhibits, including NASA\'s 25th Anniversary, Hayden Planetarim\'s Art of the Cosmos exhibit, and two fantasy art exhibits at the Delaware Art Museum and the Canton Art Museum.
