We are offering a "PLANT TREES" Card signed by Julius Sterling Morton - dated May 24th,1894, along with a newspaper obituary of his passing on March 27th,1902. Julius Morton was a pioneer in the development and installation of many new agricultural methods. He served as Secretary of the Territory of Nebraska (1858-1861); and Secretary of Agriculture under President Cleveland (1893-1897). Tree planting was Morton's hobby and life long interest, and he was responsible for planting hundreds of trees by his own hand in the state of Nebraska. He organized Arbor Day in Nebraska, and it was made a state holiday in 1885. The newspaper clipping gives more details of his life.CONDITION: Excellent
