The blade is made of 5160 spring steel and is 12\" long. The overall length is 17\". Blade thickness is .1875\" . The blade is full tang and Rockwell hardness is 58-60. The handle scales off-white bone. with 2 brass medallions (one oneach side). The pommel, bolster, and guard are stainless steel.The XL bowie weighs 23.8ounces (676 grams). Who WasJuan Padillo?During the Texas Revolution in 1835, Padilla served in aTexas army. He first arrived in Texasabout 1810 as a cavalry (horseman) officer. After Texas declared itsindependence from Mexico, Padilla represented the city of Victoria on theprovisional government’s general council, in Houston,Texas. He had also held important offices in local Government whenTexas was still a part of Mexico.He later served on the General Council of the provisional, or temporary,government of the Republic of Texas.
