The Detroit Statler Hotel was located at 1539 Washington Boulevard across from Grand Circus Park The hotel, (18 floors), was designed by George B. Post and Louis Rorimer in the Georgian architectural style, with English Renaissance Revival roots evident . Construction began on the original 800-rm portion in 1914 and was completed in 1915. The Statler became part of the Hilton Hotels chain in 1954 and along with all other Statler Hotels, was abandoned in 1975, sat vacant for 30 years, and was demolished following approval by the Detroit Historic District Commission in 2005. The artwork used for the card was created by the New York Artist Jack Lubin (1907-1986) for a series of cards featuring Statler Hotels in the 1940\'s. I have found one other for the New York Statler.
The card is in good condition with intact corners/edges and a clean image with bright color. The only defect is some minor staining, (exaggerated on the scan), on the back. Please see the scan for details. If purchased, it will be mailed soon after receipt of payment. Free Shipping Anywhere...
