Lengthy two page manuscript letter written by J. Pinckney Henderson, dated April 22, 1850, and sent from San Augustine, Texas, where Henderson had a private law practice following his service as the first Governor of Texas from 1837-1840. The letter is sent to William N. Sparks of Galveston, Texas, who would soon serve as one of the first sheriffs of Galveston, and is detailed description of ongoing legal proceedings.
Two pages of text with single blank integral leaf and address panel with early San Augustine, Texas, circular ink stamp. Creasing to letters along fold marks for mailing, with small area of slight splitting at fold.
