About 20 years ago I found this piece in a San Diego antique shop. I bought it because I liked how the artist had captured New York City. Little did I know that Irving Underhill was a renown photographer from the first half of the 20th Century. (Original Antique Shop is attached)
This framed art features four of his works in mini b/wphoto form. (Approximately 2\" x 3\").
The frame features a double matted with hand gilded gold edges at each of the beveled openings. The frame itself is constructed from two types of wood. Gold Leaf trim and then Burled wood which is the primary wood. The frame measures 10\" x 21\".
You can tell that the images are photos as all four of them are raised along the right edge center above the brown mat.

Photo Notes: My lights are knocking down the Green and Brown colors in the mat. Also, there is a reflection in the glass. Photos 2 & 3 are each one half of the frame. The fourth shot, I turned B/W to better show the Underhill photos.This is a very handsome piece that perfectly captures both New York and American Photography.
