Up for sale is an OriginalIndian War EraUS Army Model 1887 Hospital Corps Knife with a Leather Scabbard. This is a 1st pattern Knife and Scabbard. This knife has a 12\" Blade that is etched \"US Army Hospital Corps\" in a panel on the left side of the blade. The handle is turned and grooved maple. It has a nickel plated brass guard and cap on the handle. The 1st pattern knife has the etched panel centered on the blade. No rust or pitting on the blade. There are a few very tiny nicks in the edge of the blade, could not get them to show in the photos. The scabbard is also a 1st pattern leather scabbard. It is made from bridled leather with a brass reinforcing plate at the throat. It has a simple leather belt loop. The scabbard is marked Watervliet Arsenal. The leather is soft and supple. The seams are all intact, no fraying. Some wrinkling on the belt loop area, see photos. These knives are getting very hard to find, especially in this condition.

There were approximately 1056 US Army Model 1887 Hospital Corps Knives made at Springfield Arsenal, from 1889 through 1891. These are very RARE Knives.
