A very interesting 1907 Town Lot Deed and Receipt for the now-gone town of Eschiti, Oklahoma. Eschiti, or Isatai\'i, was a Comanche medicine man who talked up and led the Indians in the Second Battle of Adobe Walls. After their disastrous defeat, he was severely beaten by the Cheyenne Dog Soldiers, who also changed his name from Kwihnai Tosaabitʉ (English: White Eagle) to Isatai\'i (Wolf\'s Vulva). It is an interesting mystery as to why the town was named for him. The double-sided deed is about 8 1/2\" x 11\" and bears a 1907 stamp from the Office of Indian Affairs. The receipt from the Kiowa Townsite Commission is about 5\" x 3\" and is for a deposit of $2 on one of the lots on the deed. It is stamped by a W. IL. Miller, Special US Indian Agent. Very good condition with typical tanning and edge wear. Very legible. Not brittle. They display really well. A rare and unusual piece of Native Americana and an awesome addition to any collection.
