Description

A \"Pulp Heroes\" tribute to 1930s Western magazines starring Max Mercury! In his former role as the Old West speedster known as Windrunner, Max takes center stage in \"Thunder in Mesa City,\" written by Tom Peyer, with art by Anthony Castrillo and Sam Glanzman. The son of a small-town sheriff finds inspiration in the quick-footed Windrunner, who helps teach him some hard lessons in matters of life, death, hero worship and loyalty, lessons he will take with him into adulthood when he fights evil as Johnny Thunder! In a present-day back-up story, Bart Allen and Max Mercury hit the dusty trails on a visit to a dude ranch, where they encounter owlhoots, sidewinders, cowpokes, and all kinds of western-sounding things, including ranch owner Greg Saunders, a.k.a. Vigilante, in a hunt for a whole lot of treasure. Can Impulse cut the bad guys off at the pass? The answer is revealed in this rootin\'-tootin\' story written by William Messner-Loebs, with art by Craig Rousseau and Barbara Kaalberg. Painted cover by Glen Orbik. FC, 64 pg.
