Impressive Japanese Satsuma Vase w/ Gilt Gold Dragon Decoration, Signed, Vintage Japanese, Ornate Hand Painted, Buddhist Goddess Kannon, Golden Temple Lions
Large, circa 1930s-1940s vintage Japanese Satsuma jar with golden temple lion (shishi) handles and dragon/beast legs. The entire piece is Hand Painted and in excellent condition. Circa 1930s - 1940s
On the front is Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy, wearing a crown of golden flower petals, with six saints in attendance, all with finely detailed robes and golden halos. On the back is an Enlightened Teacher with four saintly followers.The entire vessel is finely decorated with colorful and golden fans, leaves, flowers, and various very detailed background patterns, with golden borders and trim. Itstands on three golden lion head feet. On the bottom is the artist\'s mark (possibly Murayama).
