Important 1782 Post Revolutionary War Letter Signed C J Fox Kings Appointments.

A very interesting letter giving some insight into the changes and turmoil within the British Government at the end of the Revolutionary War. The letter is signed C J Fox, for Charles James Fox, a supporter of American Independence within British government. This letter is in regard to his brief appointment as the first Foreign Secretary. The letter looks to be addressed to Wm Cooke. It mentions the resignation of Lord Viscount Stormont (David Murray), who acted as an intelligence gatherer during the war monitoring secret French aid to the colonies. It also mentions the Earl of Shelburne, William Petty, who was a Secretary of State and Prime Minister. The letter is requesting that Cooke address his future correspondence to Fox. And that Fox would present that correspondence to the King and provide the Kings response to Cooke. A truly interesting and historic document. It does show some wear including small edge tears, discoloration, spotting. It was framed and there is some residue from tape left on the edges.
