IRON STAIN GOLD QUARTZ SPECIMEN 1.05 GRAM:
$55.00

GOLD QUARTZSPECIMENfrom CALIFORNIA
Ruler is 1/4\" wide (6 mm). U.S. 10 cent coin is 17 mm in diameter.Specimen weight: 1.05 Gram - 16.3 Grains (Troy) Size: 10.5X9.3X7.2 mmThe metallic mineral poking out of this colorful rock is gold. I guarantee it. With one notable exception, it\'s like a thousand other pieces of bull quartz I scoped out while out in the field. Unlike the rest, this one doesn\'t disappoint. For aficionados of authentic gold specimens, this one has the added allure of color-soaked quartz. It\'s origin is California\'s Sierra Nevada Mtns. For some prospector, it must have been a prize find.
Creative, pressurized-forces in the earth\'s mantle injected cracks, faults, fissures, and contact zones primarily, with dissolved gold. And so, as these super-heated, metal-bearing, aqueous solutions cooled, precious metal, along with silicon dioxide (quartz) and other minerals crystallized/lithified in sequence. I did not salt or affix the visible gold that\'s contained here. It\'s naturally-occurring.If you\'ve been following my store, you know selling faux specimens is not my modus operandi. I\'ve been mining gold, making nugget jewelry, or trading in gold, platinum, and silver for over forty years and don\'t deal in low grade ores. If I had $50K specimens, I would not offer them here. I\'ve always catered to customers who maybe can only afford a taste of the metal we love so much.
I sell authentic specimens with visible gold. These high-gradebeautiesarehard to findandexpensive to obtain. My prices aren\'t based on the amount of gold contained in specimens, but on their authenticity, rarity, and collectability.

CLIP ZONES
Along the Hassayampa, savvy prospectors, when searching for virgin deposits, knew what signs to look for. Clip zones, the leading edges of river channels, often lie hidden from view higher up in the hills. These are something of an interface between barren, basement-rock formations down-slope at lower elevations and unconsolidated, gold-bearing alluvial formations higher up. Ancient river or creek channel fragments are also known as terraces, benches, or high bar. They represent the remnants of meandering drainages from millenia long past. As cyclical flooding carried sediments down mountain valleys and canyon-lands, powerful torrents of water butted heads with the older, underlying terrain. New channels were carved through the ancient country rock. Younger, deeper streams formed while stretches of older streams and the rocks they carried were left behind. Break-lines on a topographic map represent different elevations within these mountain ranges. The inside bends of meandering stream-beds from eons ago are marked as curving, concentric lines on these maps. In many instances, gold-bearing pay-streaks are found buried within such formations. Just ask Freddy and Juan. They\'ve got a lot of the same prospecting answers I\'ve been posting here for the past 20 plus years.Prior to 1919, whenever old gold-bearing gravel formations were recognized, they often bore the impact of high-pressure water cannons. Eventually, the practice of large-scale hydraulic mining was banned. In Arizona\'s placer fields, the practice of using \'giants\' or water cannons was never employed to any great extent due, in most regions, to a shortage of water.
Picture, if you will, what the land looked like a hundred thousand, a million, or 10 million years earlier. What\'s to say second, third, and fourth generation drainages in certain mining districts don\'t carry substantial amounts of gold? The age and nature of regional geology along with the extent of the gold mineralization found within may well determine the answer to this question. If the original, auriferous lode in a mountain range was deep-seated, they usually do. Deep exploration provides either conclusive evidence of viable placer mining potential or it won\'t. Extensive sampling is a must for \'gold is undisputably where you find it and nowhere else.\'
When in gold mining country, if there\'s untestedground around you, try and get a mental pictureof where old channel formations might be buried besidesin the lowest-lying creeks, river bottoms, drywashes, arroyos, canyons, et al. Unexplored ground invariably needs to be trenched and opened up to sampling.
Hilly terrain conceals gold deposits in a lot of unexplored, alluvial provinces. Sometimes, clues are strewn about for an observant prospector. One never knows when an undeveloped placer-field never before worked might be unveiled. Look for large, rounded, river rocks still locked in place or in transit working their way slowly downhill from some high terrace. Oftentimes, these will be seen concentrated in side ravines where detritus has been weathering down from upper elevations. If smooth, rounded rocks exist at these locales, it\'s a good sign alluvium is eroding down from old, elevated, channel remnants. Study topographic maps or Google Earth. As mentioned earlier, these help pinpoint meandering bends of ancient rivers. The appearance of large magnetite or other iron nodules are promising indicators as well. The presence of abundant black sands should never be ignored. If ground looks promising and pans good color, test it by bulk-sampling if possible. My experience looking for such signs has put me onto good amounts of gold in places others chose to ignore.

Thanks forchecking out our digs.
