The character actress signs the first of three pages from the script of Not as a Stranger (1955)
Script Signed: “Scene from \'Not As a Stranger\'/ with Robert Mitchum + Charles Bickford/ directed by Stanley Kramer/ I played/ Miss Snow,/ Irene Tedrow” in black ink. 3p, 8½x11. Character actress, Irene Tedrow (1907-1995) enjoyed a career that spanned more than 50 years. Making her first film appearance in We Who Are Young (1940), she appeared in more than 25 feature films - the last being All Night Long (1981). A true character actress, she transitioned to television and Broadway, appearing through her eighties. Her only recurring role was in the 1950s on the Dennis the Menace sitcom where she played Mrs. Elkins. Tedrow received two Emmy Award nominations, Supporting Actress in Eleanor and Franklin (1976) and Lead Actress in James at 15 (1978). Heavily toned. Lightly stained on verso of third page. Several hard vertical and horizontal folds. Center binding hole on first page has been torn all the way through. Paper clip indentation toward top left-hand edge, affecting all pages. Edges worn and chipped in several places. The actress name and “1954” written in an unknown hand toward upper right-hand corner.
