Here is a gorgeous extra-large smoky quartz cluster from Brazil. It has a wonderful light smoky color and will display beautifully. The white deposits are most likely a layer of silica that was deposited after the smoky quartz’s creation. What is silica? It’s basically quartz and is often called silicon dioxide. The coating might possibly be cleaned off, but it would take more than soap and water. I’d suggest doing research before trying anything to make sure you do no damage. I consider this an elestial formation as it has the “alligator skin” effect of many elestial clusters. This cluster has not been polished or altered in any way and will show the “imperfections” that occurred during its growth processes and during extraction.
