Scarce vintage 10x8-inch black and white portrait, boldly signed in black fountain pen with his name alone in the early-to-mid-1930s. In good condition for its age, with minor edgewear. Veteran Broadway character actor Arthur Byron came to Hollywood at the dawn of the talkie era, typically cast as high-ranking politicos and business executives, sometimes concealing dark and self-serving intentions. Best remembered by horror, sci-fi and fantasy buffs for his starring role as Sir Joseph Whemple in Karl Freund\'s The Mummy (1932), he was also noteworthy in 20,000 Years in Sing Sing (1932), The President Vanishes (1934), Stand Up and Cheer (1934), and Prisoner of Shark Island (1936).
