Wiesbaden is the capital of the German stateof Hesse, and with 283,000 inhabitants, it is the second-largest Hessiancity after Frankfurt am Main. The city is located on the Rhine,at the foothills of the Taunus, and the city center is located in the widevalley of the small Salzbach stream. The Kochbrunnen in Wiesbadenis the most famous hot spring in Germany. It is a sodium chloride hot spring,and with its water temperature of about 66 degrees Celsius. Themain flow of 95 gallons every minute is directed to the processing plant in theKaiser-Friedrich-Bad in the Kaiser-Fredrich-Thermel which is theheart of Wiesbaden. The Badwas constructed as a municipal bathing and spa and the bathing palace payshomage to the Roman sweat baths on whose foundations it was built. It isalso featured on this card, published by Carl v d Boogaart with the caption “Weisbadeninneres der Kochbrunnen – Trinkhalle” (Interior of the KochbrunnenTrinkhalle). It is not dated but looks to be early 1900s and is inexcellent condition with minor corner wear and a clean, clear image and reverse.
