Highest Piling Bridge in the World PR&N Railroad Oregon RPPC Postcard 1914:
$24.00

The highest piling bridge on the Pacific Railway and Navigation Company (PR&N) Railroad was located at Baldwin Creek, near Enright, Oregon. This bridge, known as Bridge 21, was a significant engineering feat due to its height and the challenging terrain it spanned. Bridge 21, or the Baldwin Creek Bridge, was one of the most remarkable structures along the PR&N route, demonstrating the engineering challenges of constructing a railroad through the rugged Coast Range.

The PR&N Railroad had to navigate steep canyons and dense forests, which required the construction of several high and complex bridges. Bridge 21 was particularly notable for its height and the use of wooden pilings to support the structure, making it an impressive example of early 20th-century railroad engineering. The bridge was a critical part of the rail line that connected the inland areas with the coastal communities, facilitating transportation and economic development in the region.

Card condition: Card has small crease in upper right corner, some corner wear, has note and address on back. The cancellation mark looks to be Forest Grover in 1914, has 1 cent Washington stamp.
