Made to the exact state standard, as used from shortly after its official opening on May 15, 1964 to as late as 2008. The Hiawatha Pioneer Trail traverses the US states of Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, and used existing highways to connect as many scenic routes, tourist stops, and historic sites throughout the four states. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped; most of them have long since been retired from service.
