LANE STADIUM

Lane Stadium, located in Blacksburg, Virginia, is the home of the Virginia Tech Hokies football team. The stadium, known for its vibrant and intimidating atmosphere, is situated on the campus of Virginia Tech and has been the centerpiece of Hokies football since it opened in 1965. Named after Edward H. Lane, a Virginia Tech alumnus and benefactor, Lane Stadium has undergone numerous expansions and renovations to become one of the premier venues in college football.

With a seating capacity of over 66,000, Lane Stadium is known for its raucous crowd and the electric energy that fills the air on game days. The stadium\'s design includes a lower bowl encircling the field and an upper deck on the west side, providing excellent sightlines and a loud, enclosed environment. One of the stadium’s most iconic features is the north end zone’s \"Hokie Stone\" façade, a tribute to the local limestone that is a signature element of Virginia Tech\'s campus architecture.

One of the most famous traditions at Lane Stadium is the entrance of the Hokies football team, accompanied by the blaring sound of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” As the song plays, fans jump in unison, creating a powerful and intimidating scene that has become one of the most renowned entrances in college football. This tradition sets the tone for the intense and passionate support that Hokies fans provide throughout the game.

Lane Stadium has hosted many memorable moments in college football history, including numerous thrilling victories and significant upsets. The Hokies\' success under coaches like Frank Beamer has cemented the stadium’s reputation as a challenging place for visiting teams. The combination of the stadium\'s design, the enthusiastic fan base, and the storied traditions make Lane Stadium a unique and revered venue in the landscape of college football.
