Hans Guradze (1861-1922) Art nouveau bronze sculpture with marble base signed
Hans Guradze (born December 5, 1861 in Kotulin, Kingdom of Prussia, † 1922) was a German sculptor and graphic artist.
Guradze studied first at the Dresden Academy, then from 1890 to 1892 at the teaching establishment of the Berlin-Charlottenburg Museum of Applied Arts with Otto Lessing. He was also a student of Max Baumbach, Alexander Calandrelli and Alexander Tondeur in Berlin, where he continued to work as an artist. In 1892 he displayed his statue of Kaiser Wilhelm II as Prussian Ulan at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition and in 1898 at the Crystal Palace in Munich. Guradze established himself as a specialist in small bronzes, often featuring horse motifs, around 1900. Some of his works were handcrafted by the Gladenbeck fine art foundry, others by the Bräunlich and Langlotz art foundry.
