Mosasaur hoffmanni

fossil Mosasaur tooth: Mosasaurus hoffmanni (Mantell 1829) This exceptional huge specimen has been extracted or indeed 'revealed' to an extremely beautiful extent from every angle. As a display item, or indeed for scientific endevour this is a genuinely stunning piece from this incredibly desirable & much sought after Mosasaur species. There are various engaging (and conflicting) stories and a vast wealth of information regarding the original 'Head of the Crocodile' in which you may wish to indulge yourself online! The tooth hails from Khouribga Morocco and dates from the late Cretaceous - it's approximately 70 million years old. The fossil measures an incredible 4" along the leading curve!! (At present we are unable to take the measurements down to 10's of mm or 100'ths of an inch due to the absence of well overdue caliper batteries) The overall condition of this specimen is excellent - there are several fine natural stress lines, apparent enameloid wear and some very possible repair. Put quite simply - she is what she is and I don't know her full history ( since extraction - and certainly not prior!) This fossil displays absolutely magnificently - and even more so due to the wealth of fossilized material within this chunk of Morocco!! As always we provide a plethora of photographs
