Weighing 2 pounds 10 ounces and measuring 16 1/2 inches, this hefty cast iron egg beater is sometimes referred to as a "restaurant" or "hotel" beater. Marked "MAMMOTH DOVER EGG BEATER NO. 300" on main wheel and faintly on the back of main shaft "THE TAPLIN MFG CO." and was offered with or without an optional shelf-mounting clamp, this example being without.
The beater operates very well with no skips or hangs at all, spinning the round (not oblong) beaters fast and easily as intended. Original patina is missing much of the "hot tinned" plating from normal usage wear, as is normal with most cast iron beaters. Beater has been lightly cleaned and wiped with food-grade mineral oil for protection and lubrication.
If you have never encountered one of these scarce monster eggbeaters in the field, now is your chance to own one. It is wonderfully huge and would make a nice addition to any country kitchen or egg beater collection. No cracks, breaks or problems with function.
