HS-74 was originally commissioned at NAS, Quonset Point, RI. in 1973. After NAS Quonset was closed; HS-74 transferred command to NAS South Weymouth, MA. HS-74 disestablished in 1985. Helicopters have been a vital part our US Naval forces. With the introduction of helicopters the 101st Airborne division started deploying into battle mainly from helicopters as opposed to airplanes. An the helicopter patches are a representation of HU-1 squadron missions and deployments.
