Up for sale is a copy of an ORIGINAL and HISTORIC Civil War Era Newspaper the \"New York Tribune\" dated Friday, February 10, 1865. Read first hand what was happening in the US almost exactly 2 months before the official end of the Civil War (April 9, 1865).
It is a large 4 page (8 pages front and back) newspaper measuring approximately 16\" x 21\".
The paper covers some important historical news including the following articles \"From the Army of the Potomac\", \"Our Prisoners in the South - Is the Exchange Resumed, or Not?\", \"The Peace Failure - Jeff. Davis\'s Message Thereon - Report of the Rebel Commissioners\", \"Twenty Months In The South - Experienced in Seven-Rebel Prisons\" and \"The Peace Movement - Gen. Singletons Impressions\". It includes news on the stock exchange, some advertisments, and much, much more!
The paper is in Poor condition. There is heavy wear and browning to the paper and there are several creases where it was folded. There are many creases and tears along the edges, some that affect the actual articles. There are a number of tears, stains and creases in the middle of the editorials, as well. On the bottom right of the front page, someone attempted to \"sew\" the paper back together. The 150 year old paper also suffers from some foxing, staining and heavy browning. The back page is particularly browned, ripped and stained and the paper is very \"delicate\" and \"crumbly\" to the touch.
There is a sticker on the upper left hand corner of the front of the paper - Between the New and the York in the title - that reads \"J Henderson 27 Jun65 BROOKVILLE Pa\" placed there by a previous owner.
This is an incredible chance to read about our countries history on the original day it was reported! A great opportunity for any collector or history buff to own a true piece of American history!
