Gladys O\'Donnell [19041973]was aprominent aviation pioneer andfounding member of the Ninety Nines organization of women\'s pilots.In 1929, she soloed and became the first licensed woman pilot in Long Beach, California andthen entered the 1929,Air Derbywith very little flying experience and placed2nd behind Louise Thaden. O\'Donnell became a well-known and respected racing pilot and competed in and wonmany prominent air races of the 1930\'s. She alsoserved on the board of the Ninety Nines and was active in the aviation field until her death in 1973. Listed for sale is the autograph of Gladys O\'Donnell signed on a commemorative cover. The cover commemorates the Aug 20, 1929, Women\'s National Air Derbyand the autograph issigned \'\'Gladys O\'Donnell\'\' in black fountain pen. The cover is dualpostmarked Aug 20, 1929, and is affixed with six U.S postage stamps.The cover measures 6.50 x 3.50 inches, it has trivial wear and toning/soiling otherwise it is invery goodcondition.
