Gilbert \"Blackbird\" 8 Day Marbleized Mantle Clock Gilbert \"Blackbird\" 8 Day Marbleized Mantle Clock Description This clock was made by the Gilbert Clock Company of Winsted, Connecticut. William L. Gilbert learned his career in Bristol, Connecticut. In 1840 sat out on his own and grew his business into one of the largest clock factories of the era. Gilbert clock company was bought and sold until 1964 when it was dismantled. There is still a historic complex in Winsted, Connecticut. Gilbert himself died in 1890.This is an 8 day time and strike movement. Every half hour it dings on a bell, and every hour counts out the hour on a gong. On the movement is stamped 1906 and Gilbert. Movement has been completely cleaned and overhauled and is in guaranteed running condition. See video below images for demonstration of strike sound.Painted zinc dial with fancy Arabic numerals. At the 12 o\'clock there is a S/F adjuster and at the 6 o\'clock the name Gilbert. Filigree brass dial plate and matching bezel.The case is painted in Green/ Black/ Brown/ Tan.(There is some damage on the top ..see photos). Two celluloid columns adorn each side of the dial (One has damage see photos). On the sides are two lion heads with rings made of pot metal. There are two fancy front feet that pull this clock together.On the bottom is a label with \" Blackbird\".Dimenstions are Height 11\" , Width 18\", Depth 8\" , and Weight 6 lbs.This clock was made in 1906 Edwardian era.
