One bound volume of 12 issues of Hop Up Magazine from the George Barris personal car magazine collection.
I recently purchased the collection from George's son.The collection consists of 1000s of car magazines from the 1950-1970s; individual issues, hardbound sets by year and magazine title, and car show programs.His son stated that these are the issues that George Barris kept for his own private collection.I will be listing many of them.I have one "Barris Kustom Industries Certificate of Authenticity", signed and dated by George's son, stating I purchased "the original George Barris vintage magazine collection from his son". A copy will be provided with every item sold from the collection.

Hop Up Magazine, hardbound, 1952, January-December, 12 issues, complete.
This hardbound book was in the collection I purchased.These are the 5"x8" size magazines common in the 1950s.
Hop Up Magazine later became Hop Up & Motor Life Magazine, then later Motor Life Magazine. I have these bound collections from the George Barris collection listed separately.
George's son told me that George did not take magazines in his collection to be hardbound. Rather, the magazine's publisher provided George a bound volume each year.
Hop Up Magazines are great time capsules capturing the hot rod/custom car trends of the era.
Bound volumes of Hop Up Magazine are very rare and the GeorgeBarris connection make this set a one-of-a-kind auto collectible.
