My collection has reached critical mass and thus I am letting go of quite a chunk of it. I\'ll be listing a lot of fantastical pieces so please check my listings for more!This is a pre-war Geisha\'s hikizuri and I cannot stress what good condition it is for a cream colored, summer silk kimono from this era of Japan\'s history. These pieces had a habit of getting used post-war, and during that era, times were really hard and these pieces would be rode into absolute filth. Finding them in THIS kind of condition is *amazing.* There are some scattered stains and marks, but far less than what one would expect for a \'working kimono\' like a Geisha\'s hikizuri. Most of the stains wouldn\'t even show up on a darker kimono, but we\'re talking about a cream colored one and so even the slightest stain shows up. There\'s no super grungies on this one, and there\'s no sweat marks on the breasts and the undersleeves which is common on these summer silk pieces because summer is hot and hot means sweating. The quality on this one is super nice; really classical and feels super iki ( stylish ) with delicate yuzen work. The silk is super buttery ro; this quality of ro doesn\'t exist in the modern era that I\'ve found. This one also has perfectly intact pre-war sleeves; they\'ve never been tacked up, so this is probably a piece that escaped the post-war treatment and somehow got stored and stayed stored until it was sold to me a few years ago.
No rips. No tears. No bad smells. Superb piece.
