While the Lord Buddha was sitting under the banyan tree, he considered that the enlightenment of the Buddha is very detailed and profound. It is something that ordinary people who are full of passions are hard to understand when listening to the Dharma. Then there will be no one who will understand the Buddha's teachings. If he taught and then nobody do not understand, it is useless. There fore at that moment he decide not to preach the Dharma to anyone.
That thought of the Lord Buddha,was acknowledge by the Brahma. Sahambadi Brahma was very shocked. He even spoke three times loudly: "The world will be destroyed this time." Sahampati Brahma with the deity came down from the Brahma Part to meet the Lord Buddha and ask him to preach the Dharma to the people. He explained that in this world there are still humans who are still have enough passion to listen to his dharma.Please give his sermon to the humans in this world. He examined the world with the eye of the Lord Buddha. He saw that there were many human beings with the lust of defilement, and there were many human beings with good behaviour which easy to teach. And some full of depravity that is difficult to teach. Like the Lotus flowers which are growing in the different stage.
1. Ugghattanyu is one who has good intelligence. Listening to the Dharma and being able to understand quickly like a lotus flower out of water can bloom when receiving sunlight.2. Vipacittayu is a person with moderate intelligence. After listening to the Dharma and considering it and practice, they will understand in a short time . Like a lotus flowe that will bloom in the next day.3. Neyya is one who has little intelligence. When listening to the Dharma, always contemplate and practice. will be able to understand like an underwater lotus that will rise and bloom in one day4. Patarama is a person without intelligence. even listening to the dharma they will not understand. It's like a lotus drowned in the mud or sometimes are food of fish or other animal. No chance to bloom.When the Lord Buddha considered these four group of people then he prayed that he would teach the dharma to all human beings to be free from all suffering.This (ram pueng) thoughtful posture was probably created according to the content that the Buddha considered separating the people into four groups. Therefore he is in the midst of contemplating, meditating, like a meditative.This Buddha image in the posture of Ram Pueng is classified as a Buddha image for Friday.
